Ian Sanders

“We help people navigate uncharted journeys, taking them beyond their ambitions and enhancing the wellbeing of everyone who is touched by the results.”

As AWW’s Plymouth office Director, Ian is expert at building the rapport that is invaluable to good building design. The design journey is often a complex one: Ian’s energy and ability to balance aspirations with commercial reality allows him to respond to challenges with innovative solutions. Above all, his passion for design drives him and his team to achieve great things.

Ian is leading the design of Sugar Quay, one of the most significant projects in the South West in recent years. This residential building in Plymouth’s historic Sutton Harbour marina requires considerable negotiation with the Local Authority, Heritage England and the local community. Thanks to Ian’s vision, it now represents a shift in design for the region.

AWW’s longstanding and hugely successful relationship with the BBC was spearheaded by Ian’s work with BBC Plymouth. The practice is enjoying a second four-year tenure on the national BBC Professional Service framework where Ian’s projects seamlessly incorporate architecture and interior design.

Ian is very proud of the role AWW plays in the local community and the impact on the regional skyline. His work on the Road to Mayflower initiative has directly contributed to the success of this legacy project.
