We are incredibly proud to have won. The competition in this category was fierce but we let our schemes do the talking for us. The Judges picked AWW because of the diversity of these projects and the fact that many of them were particularly challenging.

This award recognises all that we are achieving as a practice, thanks to our creative and talented team. In the year that the Covid 19 pandemic swept the world, our response has been seamless, demonstrating our teams’ commitment to get the job done whatever the obstacles.

We believe that the built environment shapes everyone’s world, therefore we are mindful of how our work will stand the test of future generations and it is our aim that everything we do should leave a positive legacy. This was championed by the judges and in the projects that we submitted.

Tom Wall was the lead architect on our recently completed SEN school project Polden Bower in Somerset, and comments;

Polden Bower is just one example of how - through exemplar design and the pursuit of innovation - we deliver buildings and environments that work, inspire people and transform communities again and again.

This accolade celebrates us and our DNA - for pushing boundaries, exceeding expectations, spreading good ideas and leading the way. We nurture long-term collaborations and see every project as a journey of possibility that we embark on together. Our designs continue to face challenges head on and lead us to deliver outstanding solutions for our clients.

The recently completed Distillery at Glassfields, a key regeneration site and now a landmark for Bristol, certainly exemplifies this in its exceptional design. Adjacent to this vibrant and agile workplace sits the latest addition to the Leonardo hotel chain. The bespoke design that refreshes the hotel’s previous concept was articulated through the partnership we built with Leonardos. The result is more than just a hotel, it is a destination that will attract visitors from across the city and beyond.

Senior Interior Designer Alex Carron-Brown, who recently blazed into the Mixology 30 under 30 notes “winning this award is a fantastic achievement and celebrates how we work in unison with the architectural teams to push boundaries. Our recent work with the Leonardo chain enabled them to take on a more contemporary look for their newest scheme. The design has created a restorative space for visitors and a modern workplace for employees”.

We are delighted that our work and the significant impact that we have in the South West has been recognised by these awards. We continue to be committed to delivering the very best designs that leave a positive legacy. We know that sustainable design is inseparable from good design and it is our goal to create places that enhance lives and give back to the environment.
